Great accessory, works with non-TomTom apps

:
Great accessory that even works with non TomTom GPS apps - way to go, TomTom! While it's a little screwy that you need this app to suppress the annoying prompts, it is free and not too hard to find.

For those complaining about cases - why? One of the things I love about the iPhone is with it's extreme thinness and tough exterior, a case is totally unnecessary. I love I can just slip my iPhone into my pocket. Let your iPhone be free and naked - you'll be much happier, and if you insist on a case then get a case your iPhone slides in and out of instead of a skin. Also be aware that many cases/skins out there REDUCE your cell phone signal - I was out with a friend who was having problems with dropped calls while I was not (we both had 3Gs). I convinced her to take her skin off her iPhone and she had no more issues. Skins are evil and uneccessary!

For those complaining about the suction cup not holding, clean your windshield. Seriously. Get a little alcohol and go at it - you won't have any further problems. I was skeptical at first, but if you have a clean windsheild and read the directions, it's amazingly strong.

While pricy, I think the fit and finish of the TomTom accessory are well worth it, as well as the significant boost in signal strength as noted by other reviewers. About the only thing lacking is a jack to plug in an external GPS antenna. I use an external antenna (magnetically mounts on my roof, attaches via cable) with my old Garmin GPS, and in cities with tall buildings it makes a significant difference - I never loose lock. About the only deficiency in an otherwise excellent package, and certainly not enough of a negative to be reflected in my rating.

Much better

:
The tomtom app works much better with the kit now! GPS signal gets a good lock now like a stand alone device. With charging etc tomtom now kills the competition! The only complaint is that the kit is somewhat loose in that when in landscape mode and you hit a bump it can make the phone swivel back into portrait orientation.

Finally Solid GPS for All Apps!

:
I live in a small town in southern Wisconsin. My iphone can NEVER get a GPS lock within a 3 mile radius from my home, despite having full reception bars. Sure, Google Maps will throw a pin down, but Gokivo, TomTom, Navigon, and ATT&T Navigator can never get a strong enough signal to calc a route. And if they try, they don't know when I move until I'm miles away.

My old Verizon phones never had this problem. I was confident the issue was with my inferior iphone GPS chip.

I bought this kit and finally I have GPS back! No problems anywhere and it's incredibly accurate. Not just for the TomTom app, mind you. If I plug in the phone before opening Gokivo or Navigon, it works with them too!

I believe that when you plug your iphone it, the iphone uses that GPS chip for all apps instead of the one inside of the phone.
